Project Collingham Gardens | Architect Rogan Gale Brown

An established mansion block in Central London where roof coverings & structures were removed to form two new apartments. Whilst replacing the roof we installed an innovative electrical cupola that opened the top of the apartment (creating more light and an open ambiance). The building was enhanced with the addition of a traditionally designed garden room built in steel to match the architectural fire escapes of the mansion block. The project included also the remodeling and refurbishment of apartments on lower levels.
Skilled craftsmen formed a new staircase fitting newel posts and a hand rail equal in all respects to the original period staircase. A bespoke kitchen was installed along with tailored cupboards, doors and frames. The external elevations to the entire mansion were upgraded including the repair or replacement of the existing Crittal windows, stone impediments and re-pointing. Lead flashings were also replaced using traditional methods to ensure the finished project reflected the design and craftsmanship of the original building.
The Architect’s design was finely balanced to keep the existing traditional design while delivering a contemporary design to meet the client’s vision.
